Game Room Bench Seat - Vineland NJ
The remodeling project of this Vineland NJ home had reached the basement. Which was to be a game and recreation room. With a support pole in the middle of the floor. With a stone planter built around it.
The idea was to turn the planter into an upholstered seating area between the wet bar and the entertainment unit.
A wooden column would hide the lovely metal pole. And a round bench would go around the column and over the planter.
Some photos of samples to served as a style guide. The conical back version got the nod.
The stone base was 80" in diameter, with a slightly irregular outer edge. So we took some large sheets of cardboard to lay out templates for the seat cushions.
Some cardboard cut-outs, a yardstick and a protractor helped prototype the design for the conical back section.
A lizard skin vinyl by Kravet gave the performance needed for a recreation area. The pattern is Derne - color 8 (blue/black).
We built the conical back in halves to clamp around the column. The photo shows the support ribs and backing for the tufted cover.
The upholstered seat cushions are in four segments and covered on both sides so they can be flipped. Three inch medium density foam with a Dacron top gives a comfortable sit.
