Reupholstered Sectional Sofa Egg Harbor NJ
We got an inquiry about reupholstering a sectional sofa from a home in Egg Harbor in Atlantic County, NJ.
She sent us a few photos, explaining that she had recently put in new carpet and painted the walls. She had planned to change the sofa. Since the one she had was of good condition, she asked about changing the upholstery.
She had seen some new sectionals, but had not been thrilled with the fabric choices. And the old fabric just didn't fit what she envisioned.

Generally the sofa survived a dozen years of daily use rather well. The stuffing on a few cushions had crushed and the arms had some smudges. The frame was in very good condition and the upholstery foundation still good. But you can see that the original fabric didn't really fit the room anymore.
Selecting Upholstery Fabric
From the beginning she knew that she wanted a fabric in the grey tones. And something in the 'performance' weight. We sent her a sampling of grey patterns from several fabric houses.
Wrong grey. Or wrong pattern. She sent us a photo of something she liked. A textured grey.
From the next group of samples she picked a chenille textured solid by Greenhouse. It was 100% polyester with an acrylic backing for stability. At 150,000 double rubs it was definitely 'performance' (read about fabric durability).
With young grand children scampering about, she worried about spills and stains. The synthetic fiber of the fabric was less stain prone than a natural fiber, but she opted for the additional stain resistance of Nanotex protective treatment.
Sectional Sofa After Reupholstery
With some extra fill in the crushed cushions and the new fabric, the sofa has a clean updated look. The neutral tone of the fabric gives her some room to add accent pillows or throws without clashing.
