Cherry Hill NJ Salon Gets an Upholstery Re-Do
At the end of an expansion and renovation the owners at Spice Salon in Cherry Hill, NJ gave us a call about some upholstery work to complete the major decor.
Pedicure Station Reupholstery - Quick Like
Cushions on their pedicure station showed their age. And the cranberry red vinyl didn't fit the new theme.
The station was heavily booked and they couldn't afford much down time. Once the fabric arrived, we went in on a Saturday afternoon just after the last appointment and removed the cushions.
The newly re-upholstered cushions went back in the following Monday morning - ready for the first appointment on Tuesday.
The upholstery labor cost for the fast turn of the 11 cushions was $1,360.
The Fabric Used for the Salon
The fabric for the upholstery in the salon was a leather-grained vinyl by United Fabrics.
Fire retardant and automotive rated, the vinyl is easily cleaned with soap and water.
The contemporary smoke color was just right.
We used 24 yards between the two projects, which cost $830.
Tufted Reception Desk - Not So Quick
A tufted reception station would make an impression!
And soften the long sweep at the front of the desk. Wood or laminate would be rather ... clinical - not the environment they wanted to suggest.
We couldn't upholster that in a weekend! Laying out and preparing the button locations used more than a few hours, especially considering the tufts wrapped around both sides of the desk.
The buttons pulled down into a layer of 2" foam for a nice cushioned feel.
The upholstery labor cost for the tufted reception station was $1,780. Right after it was installed, the incoming clients were impressed with the new look.
